After their smash-hit Netflix series Motel Makeover, April Brown and Sarah Sklash are back, transforming a new motel in Beaver Valley into a jaw-dropping destination. Here’s how we teamed up to curate the perfect lighting for this cozy cabin.

A strong vision

April and Sarah found a super charming 8-room motel near Kimberly, Ontario. It was way more intimate than their last spot at Sauble Beach, which you might’ve seen on Netflix. With guidance from the iconic interior designer Ashley Montgomery, they came to us and shared their vision—we were instantly inspired. And the cherry on top? This fantastic transformation was being led by a powerhouse team of fellow business women!

They wanted to create a space with a country, woody, and rustic vibe while adding fun retro, feminine, and playful touches. Antique brass and textured bronze finishes, mixed with the playful texture of rattan and holophane glass to bring depth and character to each room. What's more, soft, cozy linens in every corner of the motel would feel warm and inviting. We jumped right in to provide the perfect fixtures for this unique setting.

A stunning, curated collection

In the Parlour’s cozy breakfast nook, you'll find the Wimberly wall sconce. Nestled beside a stone fireplace, this space radiates warmth and charm. The sconce’s blend of natural materials and refined metals creates the perfect ambiance for reading and relaxing.

Above the Parlour, the Studio is the motel’s largest area, where the Huxley Pendant is hung as the main lighting source. This dramatic pendant, with its expertly wrapped cords of rattan forming a classic dome shape, creates a striking focal point. The chandelier’s organic design lets light filter through beautifully, enhancing the rustic charm of this expansive room.

The Gadar Wall Light from our Mullan line shines above the bathroom vanity in the Cozy King Room. This elegant fixture, handcrafted and imported from Ireland, can be adjusted to direct light exactly where needed. Its art deco design, featuring a prismatic glass shade and antique brass, casts stunning refractions on the wall, adding a sophisticated touch to the space.
