Inside Ashley Montgomery Design’s New Studio

Inside Ashley Montgomery Design’s New Studio

Warmth, Character and Light

Ashley Montgomery Design’s new studio reflects the firm’s approach to interiors: layered, welcoming and grounded in thoughtful details.

We had the pleasure of helping Ashley and her team source lighting that complements the building’s original character. Sculptural forms, natural textures and softly diffused light bring warmth to the exposed brick, open rafters and wood ceilings—creating a space that feels inspiring for the team and comfortable for every client who walks through the door.

Meet Ashley Montgomery

Ashley Montgomery is the founder and principal designer of Ashley Montgomery Design, an award-winning studio known for timeless interiors that balance beauty with everyday living.

Her work celebrates craftsmanship, natural materials and spaces that feel personal rather than overly styled. The new studio brings that same philosophy into a creative workplace—one designed to encourage collaboration while giving clients an immediate sense of the firm’s point of view.

“Our new studio is a reflection of who we are as a firm: creative, collaborative, and grounded in timeless design.”

— Ashley Montgomery

A Studio With Character

The studio already had strong architectural features, including exposed brick and open rafters. Rather than competing with them, Ashley’s team chose lighting that would highlight their character while introducing a softer, more residential feeling.

The goal was not to make every fixture match. Instead, each selection contributes through its scale, material or quality of light. Together, they create an atmosphere that feels collected, cohesive and true to the way Ashley designs homes.

Setting the Glow

Lighting needed to support the studio’s practical needs—from collaborative work and material reviews to client meetings—while helping each area feel warm and intentional.

Over the central workspaces, the Pawley Pendant by Hudson Valley Lighting and the Palati Linear Suspension by Visual Comfort Signature create clear focal points. Their wider silhouettes relate naturally to the tables below, bringing useful light to the surfaces while giving each area a strong visual identity.

Natural texture plays an equally important role. The woven Clovis Pendant by Visual Comfort Signature adds warmth and presence without feeling heavy, while the Lytham Pendant by Currey & Company introduces a lighter, more delicate layer against the studio’s original architecture.

The Chambers Semi-Flush Mount by Arteriors adds sculptural detail where a lower-profile fixture works best. The Paradigm Pendant by Troy Lighting offers a polished interpretation of a classic lantern form, completing the studio’s mix of contemporary shape, softened light and collected character.

Designed for Work, Creativity and Connection

A design studio is more than a workplace. It is often the first opportunity for clients to experience a firm’s perspective in person. Here, lighting helps shape that experience. It defines collaborative areas, softens the building’s stronger architectural elements and creates a welcoming rhythm from one room to the next.

The finished studio feels unmistakably connected to Ashley Montgomery Design: warm, layered and full of thoughtful details.
